Co incident or Something else? 🫢
When I bought "The Forest of Enchantments by Chitra Banerjee," I had written the purchase date in the book as 27.09.2024. I was completely enchanted by her writing, sharp, simple, yet so endearing. Naturally, I started looking for her other most celebrated work, the one often hailed as her best by not only readers but even some well-known Professors, Book clubs & even Bollywood celebrities.
But I couldn’t find it anywhere in Sri Lanka, not even online.
Then, during this year’s book fair, something rather strange happened. The book found me. I wasn’t even thinking about it, nor was it on any list — I didn’t even have a list when I went to the book fair. Sometimes Lists make things jumble. And there it was at Akura Stall, appearing before me as if by chance.
I brought it home, proudly signed it, my little ritual of ownership and, as always, marked the date I bought it. A few days later, I noticed the date. Guess what? 27.09.2025. Exactly one year later. 😀
A year apart, two masterpieces from the same author — the first retelling the story of Ramayana, and the second of Mahabharata. The two most celebrated literature pieces from history and Mythology.
Coincidence, destiny, or something divine? Life truly has its own mysterious ways. 😇
